This year in its 9th edition, International Day of Yoga will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the UN Headquarters on June 21st. This marks the first yoga session to be conducted by the Prime Minister at this location.The theme for this year is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” that beautifully relates to our aspiration for “One Earth, One Family, and One Future.”

The Significance of International Yoga Day:

International Yoga Day, officially proclaimed by the United Nations in 2014, is a celebration of the ancient practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. It is a day when people from different backgrounds come together to promote physical and mental well-being through yoga. Initiatives introduced this year:

OCEAN RING OF YOGA

Indian naval ships that will participate in the Common Yoga Protocol demonstration will be docked in nine places around the globe. In countries where they have signed MoUs, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways will organize CYP demonstrations.

YOGA BHARATMALA

The Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, ITBP, BSF, and BRO will all participate in the chain of yoga demonstrations in tandem. The Indian coastline will host a yoga event called Yoga Sagarmala. On the upper deck of the INS Vikrant, there will be a yoga demonstration.

HAR AANGAN YOGA

The implementation of "Har Aangan Yoga" at the national level is the aim of the International Day of Yoga in 2023. through the use of Anganwadis, Health and Wellness Centres, and educational institutions to enable yoga observation in rural areas.
